A new milestone in La Lonja ecosystem
From La Lonja de la Innovación we celebrate the milestone achieved by Green Bunkers, company that is part of our ecosystem and that will participate in our next Demo Day.
Green Bunkers is Baghdadi Capital's new company. It has begun operations with an investment of 5 million euros to develop its platform and open its first offices in Spain. These facilities will serve as a strategic base for its international expansion.
Solutions for a more transparent and sustainable sector
The platform connects shipowners and charterers with fuel suppliers. Its proposal includes:
- Traceability in prices and emissions
- CO₂ offset options
- Financing of up to 50 million euros for supply operations
- Green corridors with access to alternative fuels such as hydrogen, methanol, or certified biofuels
The expansion plan will begin in Spain and Europe between 2025 and 2026. Afterwards, it will advance towards the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In 2027, the leap to America is planned. The goal: to become a world leader in the sustainable supply of marine fuels.
According to its CEO, Fernando Tirado, Green Bunkers' vision is that in every port, shipowners can find not only conventional fuels but also clean and traceable options, facilitating the transition towards more sustainable maritime transport.
Green Bunkers is working on agreements with port authorities. It seeks to promote the supply of zero-emission fuels, manage carbon capture in transit, and deploy cold ironing solutions. These will allow ships to turn off engines in port, thus reducing emissions and noise.This milestone demonstrates how, from La Lonja de la Innovación, we support companies that drive the energy transition.
